Our latest Meterlink installation in Newcastle meters thirty commercial tenants in three buildings without installing data cabling. The system reads a mixture of three phase and single phase electricity meters.
The meters are read back at the company's headquarters 90 miles away where multi-user Meterlink software gives access to readings and historical data in 3 departments of the company. Plans are now going ahead to add other sites across the UK to their automatic metering system.
The Newcastle installation comprises 34 meters situated in three separate buildings. Communication via the power cables reads all the meters at one common point. The system was installed by the customers own electrical contractors, RH Electrical of Leeds. The work involved was identical to conventional meter installation. The only additional equipment is a box on the wall connected to the three phase supply and a phone line.

The simplicity and low installation cost permits individual tenants to be directly metered avoiding the need to apportion energy costs.
