Plaza student accommodation in Leeds uses Meterlink Mainscom1
meters to monitor both electricity and water consumption. Each
of the 54 rooms has its own electricity meter which also counts
pulses from the water meter.
By charging for the measured consumption rather than estimating
the cost ,the landlord is hoping to reduce their utilities bill
by 25%.
The meters are OFGEM approved for billing and include a remote
control feature which may be used to turn off the supply in
unoccupied rooms. Using Meterlink provides the facility to add
more premises across the campus and eventually read all the
meters at a central office.
