Dewsbury
market now uses Horstmann Meterlink.
The Meterlink system reads all the meters via the existing mains
cabling on site. A local data concentrator (LDC) situated in
the market office connects directly to a desktop PC. The installation
replaces an obsolete system based on meters with pulse outputs,
which had proved unreliable and was due for replacement.
Readings
and bills are processed locally whilst a backup of the metering
data is held on the council's servers. The anti-tamper feature
of the Mainscom1 meters helps to monitor the electrical cabinets
on the outdoor stalls by alerting the operator if the meter
covers are removed by damage or vandalism.
